Grooves and cycles: essential Schillinger techniques in practical composition

DOWNLOADS AVAILABLE FROM THE LINKS PAGE

This workshop offers composers the opportunity to encounter the essential features of Schillinger’s Theory of Rhythm. In a practical workshop, participants will be instructed and guided in how to compose rhythm-based music using symmetries and power series. There will be a particular emphasis on the techniques of adapting long established rhythmic patterns from various musical traditions. Music composed during the workshop will be immediately performed by the virtuoso percussion duo Three Strange Angels.
